Abstract

Discs and wedges from trees of Pinus patula, age 19 and 23 years, and P. taeda, age 19 years, were examined to compare the physical properties of slow and fast-grown timber. The trees were planted at different espacements and either not thinned or differentially thinned, resulting in trees of different growth rates and diameters.
