Abstract

The taxonomic history of the geometric tortoise, Psammobates geometricus is reviewed. It is recommended that the type locality is restricted to the south-western Cape Province. Uterature relating to morphology, distribution, taxonomy, biology, and conservation status and threats is summarised. A comprehensive bibliography is appended.
