Abstract

In this article the researcher looks at the role of flashback in the development of action in T.N. Makuya's short story, Vho- Dambala. Flashback is very important in supplying background information about character traits and their actions. In this regard the researcher will look at how the narrator shifts backwards and forwards in developing the action of the story. To achieve this, an exposition of the chronological development of action in the story will be recounted first. Thereafter, an analysis of the achronological development of action will be presented.
