Abstract

This review shows that the author's attempt to indicate the semantic relationship between the members of a small category of words which he calls “verbs of judging” has been unsuccessful. This is partially due to a lack of a proper theoretical framework according to which the meaning of words can be defined, and partially to the failure to keep linguistic and non-linguistic facts apart in his argumentation.
