Pre-commercial Thinning of Eucalyptus grandis for Mining Timber Production

Abstract

Eucalyptus grandis was thinned before a commercial yield could be expected. in an attempt to narrow the distribution of diameters and so raise the proportion of timber within mining timber standards. It IS shown that a mid-rotation thinning will not significantly change clearfelling yields although 25% fewer stems have to be harvested.
