Abstract

The monthly and annual rainfall recordsof 14 shielded Snowdon type B rain-gauges with orifices parallel to slope were regressed on those recorded with type A gauges, without shields and with horizontal orifices. The resultant regression equations were used to obtain rainfall estimates for type B gauges during a prolonged period of time. They were subsequently regressed on elevation and distance from the S.E. mountain crest as regressor-variables.
