Chemical Control of Bugweed and Setaria Grass in the Eastern Transvaal

Abstract

The spread of forest weeds, particularly bugweed and setaria grass, has become a serious problem in the eastern Transvaal. Several experiments were instituted to test the effectiveness of different herbicide treatments on those and their effect on tree growth. Recommendations listed below are those based on this research and are not official recommendations of the Directorate of Forestry.
