Safeguarding the future: The urgent need to sustain HIV services for children and adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa in the wake of foreign aid cuts

Abstract

Amidst severe aid cuts, sustaining paediatric HIV care in Africa is urgent. Children and adolescents face disproportionate risks from treatment disruptions. A youth-centred, multisectoral approach—integrating mental health, long-acting therapies, and community-based support—is essential to prevent catastrophic setbacks and protect vulnerable populations from rising infections, neurocognitive decline, and systemic exclusion.
