A new sand frog from central Tanzania (Anura: Ranidae: Tomopterna)

Abstract

A new species of sand frog in the genus Tomopterna is described from the highlands of south‐central Tanzania. It is distinguished from the other three species of sand frogs in East Africa on the basis of a low‐pitched advertisement call, more webbing, and differences in morphology and colour pattern. It is genetically different from eight other species of sandfrogs.
