FLAT GECKOS (GENUS AFROEDURA) IN THE TRANSVAAL

Abstract

Recent surveys of the Transvaal have uncovered numerous new populations of flat geckos (Afroedura) that do not fit easily into existing taxonomic arrangements of the A. pondolia group. This complex exhibits considerable variation in the presence or absence of internasal(s) and of keeled or smooth dorsal scales. A provisional new taxonomic arrangement is presented. A key to Transvaal Afroedura is appended.
