Abstract

A new species of the genus Parategastes Sars, 1904 (Copepoda, Harpacticoida) was found during an ecological study of zooplankton in Langvlei, one of the Wilderness Lakes near George on the southern Cape coast. The species, Parategastes coetzeel, is described and a key is given for the identification of the various species of Parategastes.
