Abstract

The influence of peeling of poles on both strength and stiffness is significant, but is more pronounced on strength than stiffness. For Pinus radiata, the average stiffness (EI) decreases with 19 % and the fifth percentile strength by 26 % when the poles are peeled. For Pinus pinaster, the figures are 12 % and 30 % respectively.
