Abstract

Twenty pigs were introduced into a Pinus patula compartment in mid-December, 1964, and kept in a sty 100 ft. X 120 ft. At first the pigs remained in the sty and were fed with bran in the evening. The bran ration was reduced daily and after three weeks a Bantu man and woman drove them into the infested area and forced them to feed systematically up and down each row of trees. Every evening they were driven back into the sty. After the pigs had gone over the infested area the process was repeated.
